I grew up amidst the Olympic Peninsula's wonderful resources. I've joined with land trusts and organizations that work to protect and preserve the quality of this remarkable place.
Now I'm thrilled to learn that U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer and Sen. Patty Murray have introduced "The Wild Olympics Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers Act."
I appreciate the new congressman's analysis of the legislation on what to him is a new district. He clearly treasures the natural resources of the Olympic Peninsula.
One of the most important parts of this bill is the protection of 460 miles of the wonderful little rivers – pristine now and guaranteed to stay healthy for generations to come – for the salmon, steelhead and other creatures of the forests. What a boost to help the recovery of Puget Sound!
I'm grateful to Kilmer and Murray. I'll help work to get this bill passed.
